Pneumococcal 23 - New advice from ATAGI |

After reviewing reports of increased systemic and local site reactions following some second doses of the 23vPPV (Pneumovax 23) ATAGI has revised its recommendations for the use of 23vPPV for non-Indigenous adults aged ≥65 years under the NIP.
A second dose is now only recommended for specific at risk groups, where the benefit outweighs the risk of some adverse reactions. A second dose is no longer recommended for those without predisposing conditions.
