The Immunisation Program at General Practice North continually seeks to provide and improve support to General Practice through:
- Assisting practices to increase vacination coverage rates and reduce the incidence of vaccine preventable disease by:
- Assisting practices to identify gaps in coverage including through "hard to reach" programs for adolescents and four year olds.
- Promoting the aims of the National Immunisation Program and the GPII scheme.
- Supporting practices in transfer of quality data to ACIR (Australian Childhood Immunisation Register) particularly via electronic transfer resulting in up-to-date vaccination information for practices and patients.
- Facilitating Continuing Professional Development for GPs, practice nurses and nurse immunisers.
- Refining vaccine management (Cold Chain) in general practice by providing information, education and the provision of a scheduled and "at call" vaccine refrigerator logging service focused on improving viability of vaccines.
- Working with the wider immunisation provider network in the region to increase coverage rates.
