The Immunisation Program at General Practice North continually seeks to provide and improve support to General Practice by :

  • Promoting the aims of the National Immunisation Program and the GPII scheme and assisting practices to increase vaccination coverage rates and reduce the incidence of preventable disease.
  • Refining vaccine management (Cold Chain) by providing information, education and the provision of rostered and “at call” vaccine fridge logging service resulting in viable vaccines.
  • Transfer of quality data to ACIR, especially encouraging electronic transfer resulting in up to date vaccination information for practices and patients.
  • Hard to reach programs for adolescents and 4 year olds.
  • Promotion of the Government funded HPV program for 12-27 yr old females. Funding to cease in December 2009 for those other than school age girls.
  • Facilitating Continuing Professional Development for both GPs, active nurses and nurse immunisers.

  • Staff training in relation to cold chain management and data cleansing
  • Cold chain audits and logging vaccine fridge temperatures
  • Assistance with data cleansing
  • Provision of information in relation to immunisation issues
