The Workforce Support for Rural GPs Program (WSRGP) is part of a package of education, training and workforce initiatives under the Regional Health Strategy designed to address the short, medium and long-term needs of the medical workforce in rural and regional Australia. The aim of the WSRGP program is to increase the capacity of Divisions to support the newly arrived and existing general practice workforce in rural areas.
Practices can claim:-
- Travel and accommodation allowance for GPs, practice managers, practice nurses and front desk staff to attend educational events in Launceston.
- Teleconference call costs for GPs to participate in GP educational teleconferences
- Reimbursement of travel costs for the delivery of support services to practices. This may include autoclave, photocopier or IT support that cannot be sourced locally.
The program provides opportunities for rural areas to have access to:-
- Assistance in co-ordination of the delivery of educational events in their local area.
- Supporting forums for practice managers, practice nurses and front desk staff
