Early Management of Severe Trauma. 2 1/2 day course - designed for rural GPs, includes lectures, practical skills and evaluation. 16 doctors per course. Register on-line (includes a waiting list). Dates for course sent out in September/October. Cost $2,310

Clinical Emergency Management Program
Provides basic workshop (half day), Intermediate workshop (1 day) and Advanced workshop (2 days). More information available on RACGP website e.g. procedural grants, dates and locations of courses and registration/fees.

Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (ACRRM)

ACRRM offers procedural training grants for rural GPs. GPs practising emergency medicine in RRMAs 3-7 are able to access these grant payments. For more information go the ACRRM website and the click on Education then PDP.

Information on Expedition Medicine Short Courses and Special Skills Post. Currently courses aimed at rural GPs. GPTT currently revamping courses at present and updating website. From 2009 will offer courses to all GPs. Courses offered and cost (per person) are Basic Trauma Management ($1,000), Advanced Cardiac Resuscitation ($750), Emergency Procedures Day ($750), Approach to Medical Emergencies ($750). A Basic Life Support course that meets QA & CPD requirements for CPR is offered gratis when participants attend two of the other courses.
