The Division engages a number of different staff and personnel to undertake administration of program activity and provision of allied health services and offer a range of GP engagement opportunities for members.

Whilst members may opt for participation only in program activities, greater levels of involvement are possible through reference group membership, program management/advisory or at Board level.

Clinical Services North

Psychologist - Part-time (0.4 - 0.6 FTE)

A key component of the Australian Government’s National Health Reforms is the establishment of a new nation-wide network of 62 Medicare Locals. Tasmania Medicare Local (TML) Limited is among the first 19 Medicare Locals to be established in Australia and is evolving from the former General Practice Tasmania Network that comprised three local Divisions of General Practice: General Practice South, General Practice North and General Practice North West, together with General Practice Tasmania Ltd. 

Medicare Locals have been established to better coordinate primary health care services for local communities by identifying local health care needs, working to address any service gaps and making it easier for patients to access the services they need. 

An opportunity exists for an experienced and skilled Psychologist to work in our ATAPS psychological services program. The position is offered on a fixed term contract commencing as soon as possible and ending on Friday 29th June 2012, however extension of the contract period is likely based upon the business needs of the organization and availability of relevant funding. 

You will work closely with a range of professionals in a supportive clinic environment with excellent conditions and clinical supervision.  Your service delivery will be largely autonomous offering diversity and challenge providing services to patients referred from general practice.   

The services you will provide will be delivered within the beautiful Break O’Day municipality in North Eastern Tasmania.  Consisting of the Bay of Fires (Lonely Planets’ number 1 tourist destination in 2009) this area has a population of over 6000 increasing to approximately 10,000 over the summer months.  St. Helens is the main business district located on the beautiful Georges Bay with surrounding areas consisting of pristine beaches.  Only half hour drives away are beautiful waterfalls and bush land.  The area boasts a diverse and substantial range of allied health and preventative services.  Join an innovative and supportive team to deliver mental health services in this beautiful tourist destination.
